The anger expressed on the streets after the death of Mahsa Amini has shown how many Iranian people, and people around the world, feel about the so-called morality police who enforce Iran’s discriminatory forced veiling laws. The response of the security forces has been to violently quash largely peaceful protests in Iran. 

At Amnesty International we have already gathered evidence of violence in over 20 cities and 10 provinces across Iran that points to a harrowing pattern of Iranian security forces deliberately and unlawfully firing live ammunition at protesters.
