Ice cream is mostly considered a junk food these days, often laden with sugars, preservatives, colourings, & other unknown synthetic ingredients that we struggle to pronounce.
But ice cream’s core ingredients can actually be incredibly nutritious, containing healthy fats, protein, choline, B vitamins, & Vitamin D.
We have been dying to share this Animal-Based, ‘Honey & Sea Salt Ice Cream’ with you! This Ice cream keeps things clean & simple; it’s creamy, naturally sweetened with honey, & INCREDIBLY easy to make with just 5 ingredients!!
You would never know it’s got a sneaky dose of our liver powder in it either, making it especially nourishing.
NUTRITION TIP #1:This is the perfect recipe for those looking to improve their B12, as the calcium (found in cream) helps with the absorption of B12 (found in beef liver)!
NUTRITION TIP #2: Calcium can impact the absorption of Iron. If improving Iron is your goal, try switching out the cream for a coconut cream instead (although this option isn't 'animal-based' friendly, it will improve Iron usability)
We hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we do!
Ingredients
- 600ml cream (or coconut cream if looking to reduce calcium intake)
- 2-3 Tbsp raw honey (or more to taste)
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 tsp Cell Squared organic beef liver powder (or 6 Cell Squared Organic beef liver capsules broken open to access the powder)
- A sprinkle of Cell Squared Sea Salt for garnish
Method
- Add all ingredients into a blend and blitz until combined.
- Taste the mixture and add more honey to taste if desired.
- Pour into an ice cream maker and follow the instructions of your ice cream maker. If you don’t have an ice cream maker, pour the mix into a lined container and place in the freezer to set.
- If the ice cream has set pretty solid, allow it to thaw for 5-10 minutes, then scoop into bowls and drizzle with a little more honey and a pinch of Cell Squared sea salt if desired. Enjoy!
OPTIONAL TIP: Give your ice cream an added AMINO ACID and PROTEIN boost by adding 3 tablespoons (20g) of Cell Squared Bovine Beef Collagen Peptides Powder into the mix in step 1.
